Day Twenty-Seven: My Favorite Superhero and Why

Superman, Batman, Iron Man, Spiderman...why are most superheroes men?!?

Anyway, this is a fun post for me because my favorite superheroes aren't conventional superheroes.  They don't wear suits that provide protection, or have gadgets that give them awesome powers.  They don't even have a vehicle that goes very fast.  In fact, it breaks down more than any vehicle I've ever seen!  They have a horrible sense of direction, often finding themselves lost and in the wrong place at the wrong time.  Two of them could eat their way out of any situation, and they all love a good mystery.

My favorite superhereos are four teenagers and their dog.  That's right, my favorite superhereos are:

Daphne, Shaggy, Freddy, Velma, and Scooby-doo!

I have LOVED Scooby-doo my whole life.  Not the Scooby-doo cartoons or movies that are made today, but the old school Scooby-doo from 1969-1972.  Before Scrappy-doo and A Pup Named Scooby-doo were created and nearly ruined the franchise.

This show simply makes me laugh because of how ridiculous it can sometimes be!  The crazy "traps" they make to catch the bad guy (that Scooby always manages to get caught in), how everyone (the audience) knows who the bad guy is except the five of them, the kooky songs that are played during the chase scenes...what's not to love?!?

And I love that Brandon also loves Scooby-doo!

Below is one of the kooky songs that Brandon and I dance to whenever we hear it.  The words are just plain silly, talking about being in love with an ostrich.  All Scooby-doo songs are weird, but they have catchy tunes!  The song is titled "Daydreamin", and it comes from one of my favorite episodes of the show:  Jeepers, it's the Creeper!  The sound is a little slower than the animation, but you get the idea.  It was the best version I could find!

Day Twenty-Six: A Habit That You Wish You Didn't Have

For as long as I can remember, I've been a nail biter...fingernail, NOT toenail!!  Over the years I've tried many times to try and rid myself of this habit.  I've only found one thing that keeps me from biting my nails:

If my nails are painted, I don't bite them.  However, since I am poor and can't afford WONDERFUL manicures, I have to do it the old fashioned, cheap way:

I paint them myself.  That's half the reason I still have this horrible habit.  Usually I'm really good about keeping my nails painted and filed, but this past summer I've let them go and gone on a nail biting frenzy!

Isn't this the cutest picture?  It makes nail biting look adorable!

The Decisions You Make Today....

For the first time since 1996, which was the first time I was old enough to do this:

It was very easy, and very gratifying.  I left the voting office feeling so proud that I was able to vote, to speak my opinion.

I don't consider myself a very political person.  I enjoy Glenn Beck, and I agree with everything he says.  This country is going to hell in a handbasket and if something in Government doesn't change quickly, our country will fall even faster.

Please take the time to go and vote today.  We don't have to agree about what the problems in America are, just realize that we do have them.

Here is my one big political statement for the day:

The following email was sent to me today by a co-worker.  How I wish this could truly be said!

WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR  ANY U.S. PRESIDENT, DEMOCRAT, OR REPUBLICAN, GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH?

'My Fellow Americans:  As you all know, the defeat of the Iraq regime has been completed.

Since Congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete.

This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American forces from Iraq . This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now time to begin the reckoning.

Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict.  This list is short. The United Kingdom, Spain, Bulgaria, Australia, and Poland are some of the countries listed there.

The other list contains every one not on the first list. Most of the world's nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing copies of both lists later this evening.

Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war. THEN EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER It'll GO TO OUR SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM SO IT WONT GO BROKE IN 20 YEARS.

The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world Hell holes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.

Need help with a famine? Wrestling with an epidemic?  Call France .

In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money toward solving the vexing social  problems we still have at home. On that note, a word to terrorist organizations: Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth.

Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France or maybe China .

I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France, and Russia. Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring from NATO as well.

I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid parking tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded and crushed.  I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this.  You creeps have tens of thousands of unpaid tickets.  Pay those tickets tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers and limos be turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the world.  I love New York.

A special note to our neighbors: Canada is on List 2.  Since we are likely to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not pissing us off for a change.

Mexico is also on List 2.  Its president and his entire corrupt government really need an attitude adjustment.  I will have a couple thousand extra tanks and infantry divisions sitting around. Guess where I am going to put 'em?  Yep, border security.

Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA treaty - starting now.

We are tired of the one-way highway.  Immediately, we'll be drilling for oil in Alaska -which will take care of this country's oil needs for decades to come.  If you're an environmentalist who opposes this decision,  I refer you to List 2 above: pick a country and move there.

It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens.  Some will accuse us of isolationism.  I answer them by saying, 'darn tootin.'

Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet It is time to eliminate hunger in America.  It is time to eliminate homelessness in America.  To the nations on List 1, a final thought:  Thank you guys. We owe you and we won't forget.

To the nations on List 2, a final thought:  You might want to learn to speak Arabic.

God bless America .. Thank you and good night.'

If you can read this in English, thank a soldier.

Day Twenty-Five: Something I Miss

Yeah, once again an easy topic!

There are a lot of things I miss, but what I miss the most is being able to fit into all the clothes in my closet!  When I was 23, I worked my butt off and lost 70 pounds, putting me in the BEST shape of my life.  9 years later my body has put all the weight back on.  Now, in my defense, I've had a baby, and I don't have the body that just "snaps" back into shape post baby (ooo, those women make me crazy; I hope they realize just how lucky they are!)

Last year I began loosing weight and right as I was getting into a wonderful routine a heel spur stopped me dead in my tracks.  9 years later it's harder to exercise.  I'm older, I have a 3 1/2 year old to keep up with with, I work, keep a house in order.  But let's face it:  I love food too much to not eat it and I'm lazy!

I keep trying to loose the weight, but it's not going to happen until I'm truly ready:  which means no more excuses, and basically giving up the foods I love!

I'm very grateful to have a husband who loves me and all the giggly parts that come with me!  He gets frustrated with me when I make comments about how chunky I am.  I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that this is what I look like until I'm really ready to change.  Until then I tell everyone that eating the way I do helps me maintain my giggly parts!!

So, instead of looking like this:

I look like this:

The other part that sucks about this:  Nick hasn't changed a bit...so unfair!!

A girl can always dream, but as long as Dove chocolate candy and Dairy Queen Blizzards are around, I don't expect to be loosing any weight anytime soon!!  Oh, how I miss those days!

Day Twenty-Four: Whatever Tickles My Fancy

Okay, so I found this really strange YouTube video.  Apparently every year Disneyworld has a weekend where they celebrate Star Wars.  They have some weird character parade, and this contest called Dancing With The Star Wars Stars.  I can't decide if I think it's funny or the dumbest thing I've ever seen, degrading Star Wars and how awesome it truly is!  Either way, at least watch it until 3 minutes in.  That's when the best part of this video takes place...if there is a "best" part!!!

So, what did you think?  The ending was definitely the best part!  And I agree, it is the dumbest thing I've ever seen, but because I love Star Wars, I laughed anyway!
