My Favorite Female Character

I have a thing for spies.  My favorite female character is much like my favorite male character.  Working as a spy for the CIA, and as a double agent for the people she thought was the CIA, my favorite female character is....

Sydney Bristow, from Alias is a chameleon.  A different look each episode, and sometimes different looks throughout each episode, she fights the bad guys with style.  Sydney is strong, confident, and knows how to kick butt!  Throughout the show she is thrown A LOT of crazy things to deal with, and manages to stay grounded.  Let's face it, I often wish that I looked like her, and that I could fight like she can!

My Favorite Male Character

Hmm, let me think about this for a little less than one second.  Who could it be, who could it be?  Wait, I've almost got it...no, not him.  Gee, I wish I could think of who my favorite male character is!  Anybody have any ideas?  Oh wait, now I remember.  My favorite male character is.......

Michael Westen is like an onion.  He has so many layers.  He's a great character because he has the ability to become so many different people, depending on who the situation is calling for.  

The video here is of Michael doing what he does best.  Set to the song Smooth Criminal, by Michael Jackson, it shows his "spy side", and all the resources that come with being a spy.

Being a spy, and helping people in trouble does have its drawbacks.  Michael's friends and family are often the people who get caught in the middle of all of his problems.  Michael doesn't like to show emotion.  But the following video here shows what happens when he does.

In the end, Michael Westen is my favorite male character because he is smart, funny, someone who wants to do the right thing even if he has to work with people who aren't exactly "good", and surrounds himself with good people.  Plus, he is one very handsome man to look at!!

It's all about the shades, man!!

My Favorite Childhood Show

I have two shows from my childhood that I remember loving.  And when I had access to Cartoon Network, Brandon and I would watch them.  I actually got him hooked on them, and then we got rid of cable....I was sad.

My first favorite childhood show revolves around 4 bumbling crime fighting teenagers and their dog......

I LOVE Scooby Doo!  The original, raw, 1970's episodes.  Not the versions that have come out since then.  I'm a fan of the Scooby Doo Adventures where they would meet up with the famous people of that time; The Adams' Family, Sonny & Cher, Batman & Robin, etc.  But the original 2 seasons of this show are my absolute favorite; so much so, that I own them!

The shows are so fun because they are simply so ridiculous!  You meet the "bad guy" within the first 5 minutes of the episode, "Danger prone Daphne" usually screws up the crazy plot to catch the "ghost", and the cheesy music found in each episode pulls it all together.  Below are a few of my favorite songs from the show.







This is my favorite song, and probably my favorite episode.  It's catchy, and just fun.




My second favorite childhood cartoon is also still one of my favorites today.  But like with Scooby Doo, I prefer the original cartoons from the 1970's - 1980's, not those that have been made recently.

I miss cable for this show.  Brandon LOVED it!  This show became a part of our evening routine.  Below are some great moments from this show.

30 Days of TV: Day 12

An Episode You've Watched More Than 5 Times

One day I was watching TV with Brandon, and I came across a cartoon that I fell in love with.  I've always been a fan of cartoons, but more of those that I grew up with, not so much those that Brandon enjoyed watching at the time, such as Blue's Clues, The Backyardigans, Dora the Explorer, etc.  However, this show made me laugh, and Brandon loved it too.

The very first episode I ever saw of Phineas and Ferb ended up becoming my favorite, and I've seen it A LOT MORE than 5 times.  Season 1, episode 22; Dude, We're Getting The Band Back Together

It is Mom and Dad's anniversary, and Dad has forgotten about it.  Phineas and Ferb decide to help get Mom and Dad's favorite band, Love Handel back together so that they can have a concert in their backyard, and save Dad from getting into trouble for forgetting his anniversary.

The reason this episode is such a classic is the music.  The boys head off to find the first member, Danny.




After recruiting Danny, it's off to the next member.  Turns out that Bobby, the bass player for Love Handel, is now Mom's hairdresser.  While Phineas and Ferb are trying to convince him to rejoin, Candace has to distract Mom, who is in the salon at the same time.  I LOVE THIS SONG!




With Danny and Bobby in, they just need to convince Swampy, the drummer.  This is the best song of the episode!

This is a great episode.  Unfortunately, I don't think that Disney plans on putting any more episodes of Phineas and Ferb onto Netflix.  I know there have been quite a few movies, and a 4th season, and they have yet to appear.  It's a shame, because this show is so much fun!

30 Days of TV: Day 11

A Show That Disappointed You

During the past summer Olympics, I actually had cable.....I know, insert stunned face here!  Ads for the following show were all over the place, as it was being hyped and trying to gain attention.  It worked.  I was completely interested, and the fact that JJ Abrams (responsible for Alias) was involved in the show helped excite me even more.  The premiere for this show came on during the Olympics, and I was hooked within minutes.  It was fast-paced, full of action, had a great cast.  The show that disappointed me is:

So, what happened?

Well, I'm not really sure.  Season 1 was incredible.  I was stunned (in a good way) about some of the things that happened.  But by the time the season finale came around, I wasn't dying to know what was going to happen.  It wasn't "must see TV" for me anymore.  By then I also didn't have cable, and had to watch it on the internet.  I never got around to watching the season finale.

Anyway, season 1 posted to Netflix over this last summer, and I decided to give it another try.  I watched the whole season again, and watched the season finale too.  I was a little more enthused to watch season 2 when it premiered last fall, but by the second episode, I was done.  It was going in a very odd direction, and was getting more and more violent.  I've been told by some that the season got better.

Perhaps when it posts to Netflix I'll give it another try.  I most likely will, just out of curiosity.  But this is the show that has disappointed me.
