YouTube Friday!
Has it been a long week for you? It has been a VERY long week for me! Since I'm still suffering from Whose Line Is It Anyway withdrawals, today, YouTube Friday will be another wonderful clip from this hilarious show.

Who Sings It Better?
Today we're going to listen to a song from the 1980s called, "Tender Love". First off, a version by Jordan Knight from New Kids On The Block:
And the second version is by the group who made the song famous, Force MD. By the way, I NEVER knew the name of this group before....strange name, but oh well. Here is their version:
Which do I prefer?
This is SO EASY that I'm sure the one or two people who read this can figure it out for themselves!!! Of course I prefer Jordan Knight's version! His voice is INCREDIBLE. I've loved his voice since I first heard it when New Kids On The Block were new to the music scene.

Signature Poses
After my last Musicals Monday post, Ben made a comment that has inspired this post. He stated that the picture I used of he and Levi in their fedoras was one of the only pictures taken of Levi while he was at BYU-Idaho without his thumbs up. That got me thinking....was Ben right?
So, off to my photo albums I went to test the theory. I couldn't believe it: BEN WAS RIGHT!! I have A LOT of pictures, and Levi has his thumbs up in almost all of them!

After seeing all the pictures of Levi with his thumbs up, I started to notice another trend. Ben also has a signature pose. Not wanting to leave him out of the fun, since he is the person who brought this fact to my attention, here are pictures of Ben.

I'm Loving Utah!!
There are wonderful things happening for our family here in Utah, and we haven't even been here two weeks yet!
I went to a substitute teaching orientation last week. While there, I found out who the lady was that's in charge of hiring teachers. I tracked her down and let her know I was qualified and anxious for any job! My proactive approach paid off because last Friday I went to a "screening interview" for that same district. I was told that I did really well on that interview, and I am now placed on the "teacher's pool" list, that includes only about 250 teachers who will be considered first for positions in the future. That alone was enough to simply make me excited.
Yesterday something completely awesome happened. The lady who was in charge of the substitute orientation called me and asked if I was interested in a long-term sub job. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Of course, I would LOVE that. It's my way into the district, and it's a job in the field I have my degree in!
I'll be taking over for a 2nd grade teacher (I LOVE SECOND GRADE) on Thursday because she's having knee replacement surgery. She'll be out until at least the end of January, possibly later. This is big surgery.
The school district requires long term subs to "observe" the classroom for two days before the teacher leaves. Today was my first observation day. The staff there is wonderful; so willing to help me in any way. I met the Principal as well. Oh, and I get paid to observe...SO COOL!
I'm beyond excited. The class is pretty well behaved. But I know that as a sub, unless I'm careful they will try to take advantage of the fact that I'm not their "real" teacher.
And the greatest part about this is that when this position ends, I've been told there are other positions waiting for me!
I spent 6, almost 7 years in one school district trying to fight my way through the door and not getting very far. I'm here for 11 days and I've found a district that really likes me! They have over 500 subs and they chose ME! It's flattering, and such a confidence booster.
Here's to hoping I don't fall flat on my face!

Musicals Monday
For Ben and Levi: Thanks for being two of the greatest friends, and for making my time at BYU-Idaho so much fun!
When I was at BYU-Idaho from 1997-1999 I was introduced to a movie called Robin and The Seven Hoods by Ben and Levi.
We watched this movie CONSTANTLY, had every song memorized, and would find ourselves quoting it ALL THE TIME. Dorks? Yes. Fun? EVERY MINUTE OF IT!
The scene you're about to see is of the song Mr. Booze. The corrupt police are trying to shut down the casino that Frank Sinatra's character, "Robbo" has created. He goes to incredible lengths to make sure the police don't know he has a casino.

"My kind of town, Chicago is...." The last film venture by the Rat Pack finds Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr. in an update of the Robin Hood legend, set in Chi-town in 1928. The boys play gangsters who become Jazz Age Merry Men; Bing Crosby is their eloquent spokesman. As usual, women are in short supply within the featured cast, but the film is colorful enough anyway with its period trappings.
