Songs You Can Always Relate To

There are a few songs that I can always relate to, no matter when I hear them.  Below are a few of those songs.

I grew up in a small town, and the lyrics of this song have always spoken to me.

I LOVE this Madonna song.  I have always been a person who doesn't like to be told what to do.  "Don't Tell Me" is a great song.

"Listen To Your Heart" is something that I always try to do.  After Nick and I divorced and remarried, this is a thought I attempt to always remember.

I am a fan of country music.  Not the old school, "twang" stuff, but the more modern country music.  Below are just a few random country songs that I like.

A Teenage Pop Star You Like Better As An Adult

Justin Timberlake is one that gets better and better the older he gets.  He left Nsync and became one of the few teenage pop stars to continue being popular.

His first solo album, "Justified", was a huge hit, and has many songs on it that I like.  One song is "Cry Me A River".  I always loved the rumor that the song was about his relationship with Britney Spears.  I hope it's true because she screwed up big time with him!

I'm not the biggest fan of his videos, (they can get bit too racy for me) but his music kept getting better.  On his next album, "What Goes Around" was a big hit.




His latest album, "The 20/20 Experience" came out last year.  "Mirrors" was a great song from that album.

Along with having a successful music career, Justin has expanded his fame by delving into acting.  His most famous roles have come from Saturday Night Live where he and Jimmy Fallon have hit comedy gold on many occasions.




I couldn't find clips of their famous "Barry Gibb Talk Show" skits, but I found this compilation from his last go around on SNL when Jimmy Fallon was hosting.

A Song That Reminds You of Your Best Friend

From 1997-1999 I attended Ricks college (now BYU-Idaho) and met some of the best friends I've had in my entire life.  They introduced me to country music, helped me learn how to be happy being me, and they taught me how to laugh.  To this day some of the happiest times of my life were when I was with these people.

One song comes to mind when I think about the people in these pictures.  "A Friend To Me" by Garth Brooks.  It came to be a special song between a few of us, and it makes me a little teary eyed when I listen to it now.

30 Days of Music: Day 18

A Cover Song

Cover songs can be dangerous water to swim in.  People fall in love with the original, become very protective of it, which makes it very difficult for the public to accept a different version of it.

Every once in a while a cover will come around that gives the original a run for its money.  Such is the case for Coldplay's "Paradise".

The Piano Guys came out with their own version of this song in 2012.  With Alex Boye singing, their version was the African Style of "Paradise".  Here is "Peponi", by The Piano Guys.

Which version do I like better?  Well, people are usually partial to the version they hear first.  I had never heard Coldplay's version of this song; I heard The Piano Guys first.  I enjoy both of them, but I will listen to The Piano Guys version all day long!
