Week Ten & Measurement Update

Weight Loss Challenge

After a HORRIBLE week nine, I was really worried about week ten.  Remember that last Saturday I had put on a pound and was very upset.

I stepped on the scale Sunday, expecting to see it go up again, since I didn't exercise on Saturday; I was too depressed.  Instead of going up, I lost 1.2lbs!  Okay, I'll take that.

Monday I once again was hesitant when I stepped on the scale.  But it said I'd lost another 1.6lbs!  That's 2.8lbs in two days!  Was my body just holding onto the weight and playing a sick joke with me; waiting to loose it when I was scared and ready to give up?  I was excited, and exercised my heart out Monday MORNING!  It's official:  I exercise much better in the morning than I do at night.  I am going to have to do something about this once my work schedule starts back up again next week.

Tuesday I was once again apprehensive when I stepped on the scale.  I'm down another 1.8lbs for a total of 4.6lbs lost since Sunday!  I can't believe this, but it's definitely given me back the motivation I was loosing.  Talk about holding onto the weight:  my body has already lost last week, this week, and next week's total, and it's only Tuesday morning!

Wednesday, another 0.8lbs gone....I am on a roll!  5.4lbs for the week.

Thursday, yet another 0.2lbs gone....5.6lbs, 23.6 lost!  AND according to the Body Mass Index (BMI) chart, I'm no longer obese! (just barely, but who cares!) Now I'm just considered "overweight".  (Duh!) Yippie skippie, celebrate, shake your hands in the air, life is swell.

Friday, 0.2lbs lost, making the total for the week 5.8lbs, and a total of 23.8 lost!

I have a theory about the first week of each month.  For some unknown reason my body doesn't loose weight that week.  I call it, THE FIRST WEEK OF THE MONTH CURSE.  It happened in July, and then again during week nine, which was the first week of August.  My body then compensates the rest of the month for the weight it didn't loose during TFWOTMC!  (stupid acronym, but it's easier than typing it again!) I've lost FOUR weeks worth of weight in this week alone!

Friday I went and bought a pair of capri shorts since my clothes are too big and make me look fatter than I am.  Ooo, I haven't said that in years!  I almost can't say that without laughing!!  I am now two sizes smaller, and counting.

Here's to making it to 25 pounds by Friday!  If I make it there, I will finally include a picture.  At the rate I'm loosing weight, I should be there soon.  I realize that this was probably just a funky week and I won't continue loosing THIS fast, but man, it's been too fun!

I go back for another week of training starting Monday, so let's pray week nine's weight loss was because of TFWOTMC and not because of work!

Musicals Monday

Photobucket

Years ago, when I was attending BYU-Idaho (Ricks College), my roommate and I were in love with the Beatles movie Help!  At the time the movie was released, the group didn't like the movie at all.  They've since commented that they were stoned out of their minds through most of the production....which is one of the reasons it is SO FUNNY.  It is goofy, and full of music.

Here's a brief summary of the movie:

An Eastern cult discovers that the sacrificial ring is missing. Ringo, drummer of The Beatles band has it; sent by the girl (who's to be sacrificed) as a gift. Clang, Ahme, Bhuta and several cult members leave for London to retrieve the ring. After several failed attempts to steal the ring, they confront him in an Indian restaurant. Ringo learns that if he does not return the ring soon, he will become the next sacrifice. Ringo then discovers that the ring is stuck on his finger. Its a race against time; John, Paul, and George try to protect their friend while they're all being chased not only by Clang and his minions, but also by two mad scientists and the chief inspector of Scotland yard. Will Ringo be saved, or will he be sacrificed?

The following clip shows five failed attempts to steal the ring.  Number four is by far the best, followed by the fifth attempt that shows the song, You're Gonna Loose That Girl

Star Wars Saturday

Brandon started school this week, and when I drop him off each day I see lunch boxes for the kids.  Lunch boxes....hmm; interesting.  So today we're going to journey into the land of Star Wars lunch boxes.

These are a few of the lunch boxes I've seen on the shelves at stores.  One of the students in my class at APA had the R2-D2 lunch box, and I just laughed!

Classic "roll top" lunch boxes

Another look at the R2-D2 lunch box

If I was going to pick a lunch box, I wouldn't want one that they sell today.  In my opinion, the vintage lunch boxes are by far the best!

I love the last two.  If I had to pick my favorite, the last lunch box would be the one for me.  The colors are great, and I love the pictures on it.  Great shots of Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker!

Week Nine

Weight Loss Challenge

This is the first time in nine weeks that I've wanted to roll over and give up.  There have been a lot of adjustments to my life this week with work starting up again, and I am NOT HAPPY about what has happened.

Earlier this week I posted on Facebook that exercising at night sucks.  I was later informed by a friend that simply exercising sucks!

This has been a rough week.  Who would think that sitting in a chair for seven hours a day during training week would be so mentally and physically draining?  My brain has been on information overload all week.  It has been awful.  My body is trying to adjust to exercising at night, but it's NOT happy about it.  My mind is willing, but oh boy, my body just doesn't want to come along for the ride.

Eating hasn't been hard.  I bought Smart Ones breakfasts and lunches, took healthy snacks, and drank lots of water while I was at work.  So I've been able to keep that part of life normal.

Monday I was able to exercise, no problem.  Wednesday after exercising, I felt like I was going to throw up.  Thursday night I struggled the entire hour; my body didn't want to move.  I haven't been as sore as I was Friday since my first week of the challenge.

It was bad enough that I've struggled exercising all week, but to make matters worse my weight has fluctuated all week.  I started by gaining 0.4lbs, then loosing 0.6lbs.  I then lost another 0.4lbs, and when I stepped on the scale Friday morning I had gained 0.6lbs, putting me back to a total of 19lbs lost.  I was beyond pissed off when I stepped on the scale!  So, as of Friday, I'd lost 0.8lbs after all the ups and downs.  I stepped on this scale this morning (Saturday), and simply wanted to die.....I gained another pound putting me back to 18 pounds lost.  I gained 1.6 pounds this week.  I'm ready to scream, but I'll wake up the apartment complex if I do!

Looking back at my weight loss chart, I noticed that I struggle the most the first week of every month.  I wanted to die the first week of July because I only lost 0.4lbs.  So, I don't know if my crazy weight this week has been because of my work schedule and exercising at night, or because it's the first week of the month.  I guess only time will tell.  I know I should be patient, but this is freaking me out.  I want the scale to go DOWN, not UP!

The only other thing I can think to do is try and exercise in the morning.  I don't like exercising at night.  However, I already have to get up at 5:30am to get ready for work.  If I'm not on the road by 7am, I hit MASSIVE traffic and would be late to work.  This means I would have to get up around 4:20am, spend an hour exercising and then get ready for work.  I'm an early riser, but I don't know if I can do this.  Plus, I don't know if Brandon would sleep through my exercising.  Our apartment isn't exactly huge.

I'M SO FRUSTRATED!

So it's on to week ten.  I will be able to exercise during the day this next week because we have a week off after the mind draining training week.  If my weight starts declining the way it normally does, I'll know that exercising at night is just not going to happen for me and I will attempt the 4am routine.

I am very upset, a little scared, and extremely nervous.  However, I have lost 18 pounds, and will continue to loose weight.  I just have to figure out how to do it now that work has started again.  Trial and error I suppose.

I WILL NOT GIVE UP!
